THIS WEEK’S NOTICES

1. Next Parish Lunch Today: You are welcome to stay for lunch.

2. Diamond Jubilee River Pageant: If you’ve booked tickets for the churchyard event, you can collect them today from Katie Grimm and Ruth Hollely or from the Parish Office during the week. If you can bring a spare garden chair for the use of some of our guests, it would be a great help. Thankyou.

3. Diamond Jubilee River Clean Up: Come and help clean up the slipway for the Jubilee on Wednesday 30th May from 3pm-5.30pm with the help of Thames 21. A fun event: contact Hallam Murray for details 020 7723 2682.

4. London Citizens Wandsworth Citizens Assembly. It’s only just over a week until the Assembly at which we will celebrate the completion of our listening campaign and present our requests for action to the Leader of Wandsworth Council. We aim to get 50 St Mary’s members to the Battersea Arts Centre on 29th May from 7pm to 8.30pm. You can register by contacting wandsworth@citizensuk.org.uk or by signing up at the back. You’ll need a wristband to get into the BAC: Matthew Guest (guest.matt4@gmail.com) will be issuing them. This is the most important event St Mary’s has been part of since joining London Citizens. Lifts can be arranged.

5. Church Summer Opening: St Mary’s is open to visitors over the summer on Sunday afternoons. Sign up at the back to be a welcomer: no history knowledge needed!

6. Faith, Hope, Love: The Bishop of Southwark’s Call to Mission & Discipleship. Please bring your response cards and place them in the collection when it comes round. They are not going to be checked up on!

7. Filming at St Mary’s: The churchyard is being used for a major feature film from 5th June for 3 weeks. After set-building, actual filming will take place 12th-14th June, during which time there will be no access to the churchyard, except through the Battersea Church Road gate nearest Montevetro, with access to the Church & Parish Office through the East End ‘porthole’ Crypt Door. Details of arrangements for services/daytime events will be provided soon.

8. Olympic-related Family Sports Day on 28th July
a. We are looking for one or two people to organise the barbeque on the day. Volunteers to Debbie Apostolides (dgha@sky.com) please.
b. Simon and other local clergy are running in a 'Vicar's Relay' on Saturday 28th July as part of our Family Sports Day to raise money for local
children to attend sports clubs with a sports bursary. Sponsor him at: www.justgiving.com/VicarsRelay
c. Calling all knitters! We are looking for people to knit small Olympic figures to give away as prizes at our Family Sports Day. I will provide
you with the pattern and all the materials you need. You can choose who you would like to knit - Usain Bolt?... Richard Fosbury?...Rebecca

9. Weekday Evening Prayer: There will be no Evening Prayer at St Mary’s this week. From 28th May onwards Evening Prayer will be said at 5pm.

THIS WEEK’S NOTICES

1. Last Chance today - Diamond Jubilee: If you want tickets for the afternoon picnic in the Churchyard on Sunday 3rd June, while the Queen’s River Pageant passes, please sign up in the area behind the font. Tickets are available for anyone on the Electoral Roll and their immediate family and will be issued next week. Please note: you wil need to collect your tickets from Church or the Parish Office. Note: there is no 11am service on 3rd June: services are at 8.30am (Holy Communion) and 7pm (Diamond Jubilee Service).

2. Christian Aid Week 2012 - 13 May to 19 May. Members of St Mary's are always fantastic supporters of the Week and now is the time to get involved in this year's event. Please email Matthew matthew.guest.1@city.ac.uk with suggestions, for more information and what you can do.

4. Ascension Day: Thursday 17th May: There will be a sung Eucharist at 8pm, using the Book of Common Prayer order of service. Incense will be used (sparingly!). There will be a glass of wine after the service.

6. London Citizens Brighter Futures Listening Campaign. If you’ve been listening to your Wandsworth neighbours in recent weeks, come and feedback on Tuesday 8th May at 8pm. The Wandsworth Assembly marking the end of this campaign will be at the Battersea Arts Centre on 29th May in the evening, and will be attended by the Leader of the Council, who will be asked to act on what we have heard. Book your tickets at the back. We need to aim to get 50 people there.

8. Advance Notice: Filming at St Mary’s: During June a film company will be using St Mary’s churchyard and car park for a major feature film. During this time car parking in the outer car park will be reduced. Filming will take place 12th-14th June, during which time there will be no access to the churchyard, except through the Battersea Church Road gate nearest Montevetro, with access to the Church & Parish Office through the East End ‘porthole’ Crypt Door. Details of arrangements for services/daytime events will be provided towards the end of May.

9. Weekday Evening Prayer: There will be no Evening Prayer at St Mary’s on weekdays from 21st – 25th May, owing to clergy holiday. From 28th May onwards Evening Prayer will be said at 5pm rather than 5.30pm.
10. Plans for our Olympic-related Sports Day on 28th July are progressing well with good funding secured. We are looking for one or two people to organise the barbeque on the day. Volunteers to Debbie Apostolides (dgha@sky.com) please.
