THIS WEEK’S NOTICES

1. This Evening is the third of the Lent talks after the 6.30 pm Evensong with Revd. Dr. Jim Blackstone and the theme is “Praying with Icons and the Body”.

2. Presentation to Adam Boulter: If you would like to contribute to a presentation to Adam in appreciation of his ministry as Curate for the last four years, please hand it to one of us or send it to the office. Any cheques should be payable to Battersea Parish Church. We shall be saying farewell to Adam, Beth, Joseph and Hannah on Easter Sunday. Many thanks Sarah Macnab and Chris Moxey.

3. The Flower Group invites you to join them in making the posies for Mothering Sunday; this year we will be meeting in Alison Watson's house at 10.00 a.m. on Saturday, 17th March. It will not take very long and we have a wonderful chat while we work – just let either Alison or Sarah Bryant know and we will be delighted to see you!

4. Parish Lunch - Sunday 18th March hosted by Area 7 Shaftesbury and The Commons - contact Sarah Cooke (7498 6805 scooke58@btinternet.com) or Sara Linton (07870 219 512) if you like to attend.

5. Bishop Christopher has issued a call to mission to all church members in Southwark. Please collect your personal envelope at the back of church. Bishop Christopher will be presiding and preaching at St. Mary’s on Sunday 25th March at the 11.00 am service. Come along and meet him.

6. Tyrone Whiting: Our new Director of Music begins his ministry on Sunday 25th March.

7. Alpha hosting Many thanks for the marvellous help you have provided so far. We are nearly there - just need cooks for March 19th and 26th; and 2 to help set up and clear up on the 26th. Please sign on the sheet (on the Mission Giving board) or contact Alison on 7720 9708 or wintgens@btinternet.com

8. Health & Safety: We could really use a hand with organising our Health & Safety arrangements in the Church. We would really like to hear from someone who has an interest in Health & Safety. Perhaps you have some knowledge or experience gained in this area at work? The Wardens would be glad to hear from you - please speak to Chris Moxey or Sarah Macnab.

9. Getting Involved on Sundays: If you’d like to help in any of the following ways please speak to one of the clergy or the person indicated. Ways of being involved in worship: Reading the Bible in Worship (Cynthia Newman), Leading the Prayers (Robert Law), Singing in the Choir (Martyn Noble), Welcoming People to Church (Diana Goodwin), Serving Coffee (Diana Goodwin), Playing in the First Sunday Band (Mary Tester), Helping Lead our Weekly Service at Meadbank BUPA Hospital (Alison Wintgens). Additionally, after Easter Simon will be training up two new teams: one of adults and children who would like to be Servers, to assist the clergy in worship, and the second of lay people to assist leading the 11am Sunday Service. Let’s make St Mary’s even more inclusive! Training will be offered to anyone who would like to take part.

THIS WEEK’S NOTICES

1. This Evening is the second of the Lent talks after the 6.30 pm Evensong with Revd. Lorenzo Fernandez-Vicente. Lorenzo is a parish priest, a former curate of St Mary’s and, before that, a Roman Catholic Dominican Friar. The theme tonight is Praying “The Jesus Prayer”.

2. Annual Reports: The reports are due in to the Parish Office by latest Monday 5th of March 2012. Thanks Sunny
